Accompanied by fine tannins and a soft acidity, this wine is dark red in color and spicy in aroma.
This Spätburgunder Spätlese from the Tauberfranken terroir is an elegant and high-quality red wine that impresses with its special origin and careful production. Tauberfranken, a wine-growing region in the northern part of Baden, offers ideal conditions for growing Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). The soils in our region are calcareous, which gives the wine its characteristic minerality, while the continental climate with warm summers and cold winters allows the grapes to ripen optimally.
The grapes for this Spätburgunder Spätlese are harvested late in the year, in October, because they have reached a higher level of ripeness and sugar content. This late harvest results in wines with more intense aromas and higher concentration.
Our Spätburgunder Spätlese appears in the glass in a deep ruby red, sometimes with garnet reflections. A complex bouquet of red berries such as cherries and raspberries unfolds on the nose, often accompanied by notes of plums, strawberries and a hint of spices such as cinnamon and cloves. As the wine matures, spicy aromas can develop.
On the palate, the late harvest wine is elegant and balanced, with harmonious acidity and soft, well-integrated tannins. The fruity notes of red berries dominate, complemented by subtle spicy notes and a pleasant minerality. The finish is long and smooth, with persistent fruity and spicy nuances.
This red wine should be served at a drinking temperature of around 16-18°C to bring out the aromas to their fullest. It goes perfectly with game dishes, lamb, beef, but also with rich vegetarian dishes and mild cheese. With its good storage potential, it can gain complexity over several years if stored optimally. Our winemakers attach great importance to the best harvest, which is reflected in the high quality and typical character of these wines.
