Description

KILIAN Spätburgunder

The fruity aroma of this cherry-red wine and the pleasantly accentuated acidity flatter the overall expression of this wine. This estate wine shows our excellent price-enjoyment ratio even at this quality level. Light red in the glass, fine nose with red berries. On the palate, subtle tannin structure with an elegant note.

Pinot Noir wines taste full-bodied and velvety, have a fruity aroma and nuances of almond. The typical Pinot Noir has a slightly sweet scent of red fruits, from strawberries to cherries and blackberries to blackcurrants. In barrique wines, there are also hints of vanilla and cinnamon. A distinction is made between the classic and the modern type. Traditionally, the best Pinot Noirs were made from very ripe grapes, were not very intense in color, were mild, low in tannin and rust-red in color. In addition to this classic type, the modern Pinot Noir with a strong red color, more tannin, less acidity and often short storage in small oak barrels is becoming increasingly important.

Pinot Noir red wines are the “kings” of red wines. They are best enjoyed chilled at 16 to 18 degrees. Strong varieties are best served with roasts, game or a cheese platter.

We primarily produce this variety as a dry red wine, sometimes with a certain residual sweetness. We also mature the higher qualities in barrique barrels – you can find Pinot Noir in all quality levels from Becksteiner winemakers.

The Spätburgunder grape variety, also called Pinot Noir, belongs to the Burgundy family and is widely grown in the Baden wine-growing region.
